how to take care of your clothes
The first edition of the ‘Care For Clothes’ campaign focused on the proper care of clothes.
Proper and responsible clothes care is not just about washing. It is also about proper drying, ironing and storage. By taking proper care of your clothes, you can enjoy them for longer. In doing so, you save money, but also the planet. A conscious approach to clothing care means less energy and water consumption. It means less plastic and chemicals ending up in rivers, lakes or seas.

Separate items made of delicate fabrics from other materials
This will prevent the delicate fibres from rubbing, resulting in weakening or snagging when removing the garment.
Fold clothes without creasing them
When folding your clothes, do it gently without smoothing out the edges. This will prevent cross creases and reduce the need for ironing. Don’t stack items too tightly on shelves.
Do not hang jumpers on a hanger
A jumper, especially a heavy one, hung up on a hanger can stretch or lose its original shape. The shoulders of the hanger can leave evidence of the knitted fabric being pushed out. Jumpers are therefore best stored folded. You can also roll them out and put them in a drawer in this condition.
Store clothes in a dry, dark and airy place
Make sure your wardrobe or dressing room is dry, dark and has good air circulation. In such conditions, clothes will not deteriorate or develop an unpleasant odour. Keeping out of sunlight will help to protect garments with intense or dark colours from fading.
