How to delay the pilling process?
Starting with proper care. It is worth paying attention to how we store and clean our clothes.
- Wash according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. If the spin cycle is too long, the temperature too high or inappropriate chemicals can cause the garment to pill. - Proper washing. Turning the garment inside out and using special laundry bags reduces friction, which is a major contributor to the formation of pills. It is therefore worth performing this small action if you are concerned about delaying the pilling of your clothes after washing.
Tried and tested accessories
When small balls appear on your jumpers despite proper care, you don’t have to resort to drastic methods right away. Try some simple but effective ways to remove pills on your clothes.
- Comb. The special pilling comb is great for wool, cashmere or acrylic. It has been designed not to tear the garment, but only to ‘comb’ the fibres. In this way, it can be used to precisely and carefully remove the balls without damaging the yarn. When using the comb, it is recommended that you gently, unhurriedly run it over the garment at an angle.
- Natural stone. The texture is similar to pumice stone, although it is much softer. It should be lightly applied to the garment and dragged over the area where the pills occur. As with the use of a comb, care must also be taken not to pull the ‘eyelets’ of the jumper.
- Roller brush. Ideal for refreshing clothes made of mohair. It can be used to comb out the characteristic ‘hair’ of this material when it is pilled or matted after washing.

Each of the methods described above makes it possible to effectively get rid of small imperfections on our clothes, although it requires an investment of time and patience. However, when talking about ways to remove unwanted pills, one cannot overlook the most popular method, which is the use of a clothes shaver.
The secret of its effectiveness lies in the blades hidden under a metal mesh. Thanks to the large circular surface of the shaver head, you can easily and quickly remove pills from different parts of your clothes. The razors are powerful and can even be used for years. Their operation is extremely intuitive and only requires regular cleaning and charging or battery replacement.
Remember that proper care and a properly applied method of removing pills can significantly extend the life of your favourite garments. You don’t have to give up on a jumper just because it shows the first signs of wear and tear. All it takes is a little patience and the use of tried and tested methods of repairing your clothes to enjoy them for years to come.
