Borscht
Do you love Christmas Eve borscht, but are worried about splashing on your festive clothes? Cover the stains from red borscht or red wine with a thick layer of salt as soon as possible, add a few drops of lemon juice and leave for a quarter of an hour. Then rinse the stained area in lukewarm water, and finally wash the clothes as usual, according to the instructions on the label.
Coffee
What if you douse yourself in coffee or tea? It is best to act straight away! Then even plain soapy water will be effective. If the stain has already dried, vinegar diluted with water (1 tablespoon of vinegar per glass of water) or a paste made of baking soda (2 teaspoons of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of water) will be more effective. Rub the stained area gently with a sponge soaked in vinegar water until the stain is removed, or apply the baking soda paste to the stain and leave for several minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. You can also remove the coffee stain with washing powder and a toothbrush. Then wash the clothes according to the instructions on the label.
Chocolate
What’s the easiest way to remove a chocolate stain from your blouse? Combine 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water, then apply the paste to the stain. After about 10 minutes, rinse it with water and then decide to hand wash or machine wash according to the directions on the label. Alternatively, you can soak the stained area in milk for about half an hour, then gently rinse with lukewarm water and then wash the clothes.
Oil
Oil stains are the most resistant (beware of herring…). The best thing to do is to reach for washing-up liquid as soon as possible. Simply rub the detergent generously into the fabric and then rinse with cold water. However, remember not to use intensely coloured products for light-coloured fabrics. Another way is to sprinkle the stain with potato flour and leave it for several minutes. After this time, remove the flour and rinse the stained area in lukewarm water. If you still see the stain on your clothes, use dish liquid and proceed as above.
You can also use toothpaste. Rub a little bit of toothpaste on the stain and then wash the clothes according to the instructions on the label.
